You would be treated as a new provision, not a migration hence the possibility of a setup fee. Any of those ISPs will assist.

Not pointing you in any particular direction but idnetters.co.uk is an unofficial forum with occasional Idnet input. Register and post your query on there and you'll get a definitive response pretty quickly. Idnet 1 month contract.

But if O2 cannot generate a mac code how will I ever be able to get the ISPs you mentioned to give me broadband.

Apart from Virgin Media (cable) I can't see any other solution, but I wouldn't want an year contract.

I thought Ofcom could help me to get the code but if you say once the service is disconnected they can't do it any more I don't know what else I can do :((

    Thank you, anyway!

Re: 02 mac code nightmare :(

If the broadband service has been ceased there's no way O2 can generate a MAC.

Try one of the better ISPs, 1 month contract, to see if they can sort you out. Andrews & Arnold, Idnet, ADSL24, Xilo etc. initially then you would be free to move to whoever, with a MAC. May well be a new provision charge though.

Utility Warehouse are mere resellers, you would probably end up on Opal network ie. Talktalk LLU, and to be avoided at all cost.

    You should contact ofcom.

Meanwhile, you might want to have a look at using a dongle for mobile broadband although it wont be suitable for whatever you are doing that is using a lot of bandwidth.

    02 mac code nightmare :(

I had broadband with 02 and suddenly, out of the blue, my service was disconnected for excessive download (in my understanding I was suppose to have unlimited download, anyway). The problem now is that they refuse to give me a mac code. They say as the service had already been disconnected they can't give a mac code any more.
I did change my BT phone number in march and I didn't realise I should have contacted 02 to inform about the no change and now there's this mess about the numbers too. No provider wants to give me broadband without the mac code. The 02 customer service is the most rude I've ever dealt with, and I don't know what to do to make them to give me a code. I think all the problems have been caused by the change of phone no, as I had broadband linked to one number and now there's another number on this line. I've trying to get broadband service with Utility Warehouse but they say they can't do without the mac code.

If my internet (mac code) was linked to the old phone number, it means the new number doesn't have a mac code, so why can't Utility Warehouse doesn't give me broadband as if I never had before, which in this number I didn't.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!
