Re: Transferring from Tiscali to TalkTalk

Liked Tiscali until taken over by TalkTalk and prices raised. Gave notice and tried to go to AOL but they messed up 5! times so went to BT for line and Orange for Broadband. My advice - stick to BT for line, even if a little more expoensive because at least you can change ISP at the drop of a hat without having no BB for 4 weeks. Anyway then TalkTalk really got going and charged me £380 on my credit card !! for cancellation of new contract which I had refused to go on, (even though they said charges wouldn't go up). They have admitted their mistake in writing twice and promised to refund but 3 months down the line and no money. Just given them 48 hours notice and then I'll issue a District Court Summons through the Government website (Money Claim Online) for the money, interest, my time, and court costs. My further advice - get away from TT and never pay these charges by credit card - card company not really interested as I had "authorised" the charge.

    Hi Shratra,

If BT disconnect your line then you would need to pay a new line fee to come to TalkTalk. This fee is currently £69.99.

    Cheers

    Em x

Re: Transferring from Tiscali to TalkTalk

Like us it all seemed simple we started with tiscali broadband and talk talk phone - lets combine the 2 and get extra savings - worst days work of my life. Lets face it both companies are owned by Carphone Warehouse and should already have offered existing customers this combining as standard good customer service. We also were told it would be free connection and then were sent a bill, they even denied offering it to us even though we had it in writing from them - eventually they had to concede that I would not pay the £29.99 only to have it reimbursed next month (what a joke). We now have had daily recorded messages left from tiscali asking us to ring them (these calls are chargeable and apparently non refundable) and then they are asking us why we are ringing! We have had confirmation that our account is clear but they are now threatening to send in the baillifs if we dont pay a £6 charge that they cant decide what is for. This has gone on daily since February with emails and phone calls and this is the final straw. No one will help us sort out a mess that they have caused by combining the two companies. I am told that there are 6 "Customer" Service" centres and hence we will never get to speak to someone who knows the whole story, no on ever returns our calls despite promises. We are now leaving and going to another company as we have just about had enough. My advice is just dont do it!

Re: Transferring from Tiscali to TalkTalk

I am about to leave talk talk yak yak . Ordered a Talk Talk Essentials with added boosts for International calls& anytime calls. Already had a talk talk account so I really believed that transferring over would be a doddle. Guess what they cocked it up.Supposed to be active on May 27th, router arrived on May 28th. After 5 telephone calls Talk Talk could still not get my order correct & functioning. More telephone calls, more excuses. Finally on June 4th I was informed that all was well & I was offered a £10 credit for my troubles. All I actually wanted was a fully functioning system
Received my on line phone bill on June 8th & guess what, the £10 credit was not there & to top it all I was charged £29.99 connection fee when I was informed originally that there would not be a fee involved. Following another telephone call I was informed that £39.99 would now be credited to my account. Out of the corner of my eye I noticed that I had been charged for International calls which I had been led to believe at the outset would not be charged because I was taking out the International Boost which covered 35 Countries, alas the country I was phoning is not included. I left BT because after 6 months phoning & not being able to talk to anyone I decided enough was enough and now am afraid I am on the move again. So before you move write to
    Mrs Dido Harding
    Chief Executive
    Car Phone Warehouse plc
    1 Portal Way
    North Acton
    London W3 6RS
and ask her what type of service her company actually supplies.

    Hi Shatra

You will still require a BT line if you transfer to Talk Talk.

    Transferring from Tiscali to TalkTalk

    Hi there,

I am considering upgrading to talktalk essential so my line rental would be with talktalk. I am currently with BT and they are causing lots of problem one of which is threatening to disconnect my line. I have checked online that my line is still active, however, I cannot make or receive call although there is a dial tone. My question is if while in the process of transferring the line where the line is still active and during this BT decide to disconnect completely will I get billed for a new line. I am desparate to transfer over but am holding back because I don't want to fork out anymore money.
