    Darkwing:

Its good that you have restarted this thread on a mutually helpful basis - unlike the last poster for whom £100 was clearly unimportant.

Although to fix or not to fix is a personal choice, I'd always endorse fixing over the winter period. Though I don't know for sure I agree with your interpretation of the quote you posted.

    Re: Npower cancelling their Online 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 & Web 14 tariffs

I received no notification that my tariff was being cancelled. Luckily I chose this month to check for alternatives.

Jalexa, I'm not completely sure, but I am fairly certain that the discount applies to paying by DD without interuption rather than a particular tariff. I have just switched from Sign Online v13 to n-power's Go Fix 2, and this was in the small print of the email they sent confirming my new tariff.

    (Copied & pasted)

"*Direct Debit discount: After you’ve been with npower and paid by monthly Direct Debit without a break for 12 months you’ll be entitled to a discount off your energy bill. Stay with us and continue to pay in this way and you’ll get a £100 annual discount if you buy both electricity and gas, £50 if you buy just gas or £40 if you buy just electricity. Dual fuel customers must pay for both supplies in one combined monthly payment and accept a combined dual fuel statement. Your discount will be credited to your account after 12 months and after each year you continue to pay this way. Monthly direct debit payments will be based on your current credit or debit balance and estimated future consumption at prices current at that time. Subject to change."

I am definitely going to check tomorrow when their call centre opens. £100 is very important, but I jumped on to the tariff now because I saved over £300 from my current one (which is ending anyway) and so many threads here seem to conclude that the best fixed deals have been yanked already, or are about to be.

I'll let you know what I am told about the Direct Debit discount.

I'm very sorry Jalexa, I only wanted to give my contribution to the topic brought up by Mr Spock, I hadn't realised you were actually running the forum! Nope, I don't know what happens to the 100£ but I guess if you pick up the phone and call Npower your wait will be over in about 3-4 minutes. Apologies again for interrupting.

Well the previous poster didn't seem to know the answer to my question, so I will try again. Does a tariff change reset the NPower £100 deferred discount clock?

    Bore da from Wales!

Got the letter too, we were on Online 14 (dual fuel). The interesting thing is that rather than moving us to the cheapest plan available to existing customers (go fix 2), they kindly offered instead a new gas tariff which will bless us with a crazy 260£ in annual standing charge only!

I think these sharks rely on the fact that most people won't shop around and stick to the new, randomly assigned, tariffs.

As for us, I did my homework and will be moving to Swalec Go direct 4. With the same amount Npower would have charged me for gas standing charge only, I'll be paying both gas and electricity bills in full for the whole year.

I have to say that in their letter they state that we won't be affected by the new charges if we decide to leave npower provided that we let them know within 20 days. Needless to say that the letter bears a very specific date..."April 2010"! No actual date, I am already hearing myself shouting on the phone tonight....

    watto67:

I don't know the answer to that

Don't you worry about losing a £100 discount?

As I said I don't know the answer but I reflect on frequent critical Npower press comment. The standard terms and conditions (AIUI) don't appear to restart the £100 clock from zero on a tariff change, but as a matter of fact the Sign Online 18 T&Cs say "Should you switch to the Sign Online 18 offer, you will lose any benefits of your previous npower tariff and may not be able to return to that tariff later"

The Sign Online 18 T&Cs also say as a matter of fact that "If there is any conflict between these terms and the Standard Terms, these terms (ie the Sign Online 18) will prevail"

If I was asked to adjudicate whether the £100 clock restarted from zero on a change to Sign Online 18, I would say yes. Fortunately (or unfortunately) I am not Npower.

watto67:Just ring up and switch to online 18 very easy and quick to change, all you need is your meter readings

Genuinely don't know the answer but I hope you do. If you transfer to a different Npower tariff, does the "discount paid 12 months in arrears" clock carry on running or restart from zero?

    Re: Npower cancelling their Online 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 & Web 14 tariffs

    Hi Skywalker,

Sorry to be a pain but are you sure you have signed up to their online 19 tariff, as when I check their website out and the brokers, I know they like to be consecutive, like ScottishPower I am with, they are still only advertising their sign online 18 tariff, and this did replace 17?.

As far as Npower have said, its only 8 through to 14. And apparently OFGEM have responded back to say that Npower are being too mean doing this, it was only one tariff where they said they had to reduce their charges to ensure it was cost reflective of them distributing the electricity there, i.e it appeared NPower was charging more for what it actually cost to supply their electricity there, but Npower have cancelled all these rates.

Moving their customers to their Standard rates is shocking, and I would consider switching if you have been affected? has anyone on these tariffs heard about these changes?

In March I signed up for their web online v.19 tariff. I haven't heard that they are cancelling this.

    Npower cancelling their Online 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14 & Web 14 tariffs

    Hi All

We all know that Npower usually appears somewhere on these threads, but I read an interesting article last week and just getting around to posting it now, apologies Npower customers!, is anyone on one of these rates, how are Npower communicating it to you ? it mentions that customers are now being moved onto their Standard rates ?, has anyone contacted Npower about this? (http://www.dailymail.co.uk/money/article-1267595/Petulant-npower-hikes-energy-bills-25-cent.html )

    Regards
