Re: life insurance, family history issues

well i did say the basic problem was.........

more in depth problems are that when i was tested i was serving in the army, and now i am back to being a civilian.

i have had my army medical docs checked and there are no records of me being tested, so i believe i was tested at an NHS hospital, however i am not sure where i was tested, and so far i have been unable to find any of my medical records from before i joined the army, or any evidence of me ever being tested, remember this was 15+ years ago, before most things were recorded on computer records

but i am due a visit to my quacks so i'll ask him then if there is anything else i can do, i have no problem being retested as i now it'll be negative, just not sure if it will be a free test this time round

Surely these results would be recorded on your medical records, you could apply for a copy of your own medical records from your GP.

If you want to view your health records, you may not need to make a formal application. Nothing in the law prevents healthcare professionals from informally showing you your own records. You can make an informal request during a consultation, or by phoning the surgery or hospital to arrange a time to see your records.

If you want to make a formal request to see your health records under the Data Protection Act (1998), apply in writing to the holder(s) of the records. If you want to see your GP records, write to your GP or the surgery manager.

    life insurance, family history issues

    my basic problem is this:

my brother has a form of muscular dystrophy, i h\ve been genetically tested for this and the results came back clear

however this was about 15 years ago and i do not have any records of this test happening or the results

i have applied for life insurace previously, but as i was not able to provide the "proof" required the company wanted to put a 50% weighting on top of the premium

does anyone know a way around this problem i have

    cheers
