Re: private councils, can we buy there Housing

    mail4moy,
    Hi there,
I asked to buy my housing association house some time ago and they said no, it seems that some Housing Associations will sell and some will not. This is not fair, you could get intouch with the Housing Ombudsman, or the Housing Corporation, who regulate the Housing Associations, and ask them why you cannot buy your home. I know your happy where you are, but maybe you could exchange your property for one where you can buy it, but you still have to live in it for 3 years, and I suppose they could still refuse to sell it after this time is up, you could probably ask to get that in writting, where you want to buy after 3 years. Please let me know how you get on, good luck.

Re: private councils, can we buy there Housing

On my agreement it does not say i have the right to buy my home, Some of the homes built hear are owned out right from the housing ass, and some are half and half, i'm unlucky this time round, mine is half and half.
    half council and half govement,,,

I was told off the local MP thant i should contact a solicitor, What,,, to get told the same thing as what i,v been told,,, Na i wont do it, its not worth it.

The bank probs not give me a loan anyhow, cause i had a bad history of credit in past, but it's improving.

It's a shame cause i relly like it ere, i have moved around alot, but this place i'm happy with and dont want to move on, Toney Blare said he would like to see more people getting on the property ladder by buying there council homes and he also said it will apply to Housing associations to, I'm waiting for this to happen. Thanks for your reply vicki

Surprise [:O] private councils, can we buy there Housing

I live in a 2 bedroom Wimpy Home which is owned by a private housing Ass,
I pay £71.50 a week in rent, i phoned the council up and asked them if it would be possible to buy the house, they told me they cant sell me the house without the govements say so as it is partly govement funded. So i phoned my local MP and told him what the council said, and he told me to ask them if they would sell me the house and i told him they would but i need the govement to say that its ok for me to buy it. I got no where with the MP he sugested i talk to a solicitor, what talk to a solisitor, pay him/her a large amount of money just to be told what i got told, NA! I give up. I know i'd get my house cheap because iv lived in it for alot of years, and it be better then paying rent and much cheaper. So much for the Labour party sugesting more people should buy there council homes! Today i'm still renting
