FURNITURE247 CEASED TO EXIST ON NOVEMBER 23rd 2010. FACT. COMPANY HAS BEEN DISSOLVED FOR OVER A YEAR!

THEY HAVE BEEN TRADING ILLEGALLY EVER SINCE.

Yes ,this company is still trading ...DO NOT buy goods off this company .I have been sold a mattress which now has sharp pieces of steel comping through it and which are rusted .They say there was a 2 year warranty with the mattress I purchased ,but this is utter lies ,once you purchase their goods they then tell you different ,after sales is an uncaring and are very rude to their customers with a stinking attitude ..I contacted their sales department who are very helpful and they even emailed me to say there is a 2 year warranty on the same mattress I purchased which is a contradiction to their after sales team .So it seems they will do anything to get your purchase then after that they are disgusting .I am a disabled person who needed this type of waterproof mattress for my condition .I have now had to contact trading standards to deal with this ,this causing me more stress and upset I could do without .The mattress should not be old to people as it is a potential danger and could cause serious harm with these sharp nails coming through .This company should not be allowed to trade .

Re: Refund being delayed by Furniture 247

Hi, I paid by Visa Debit, sent Santander all the evidence but they have refused to give me the Visa Chargeback, my complaint about them is now with the Financial Ombudsman. I just hope he makes them give it to me. Santander's reason for not giving it to me, is that I should speak to Muti Ecommerce, well, they are Furniture247 ! And if they had seen the address on the copy of the letter I sent to Furniture247--hand-delivered, they would have seen that, but all the Visa Chargeback team were interested in, was making an excuse as to why they couldn't help me; the manager in the bank told them to help me--I saw him write them an email--but they refused point blank.

I think Santander have breached Their contract, I can't really see much difference between them and Furniture247, who have definitely breached theirs and the Sale of Goods Act 1979.

Re: Refund being delayed by Furniture 247

Hi, and thank you for responding! Unfortunately FIRA isn't the furniture Ombudsman, just a branch of it, and you're right--companies have to be registered with the Furniture Ombudsman to have him deal with it--grossly unfair, I mean, if a company wants to con you by delivering faulty goods they aren't going to be registered!

I had FIRA come to see me when Dwell would not refund me for a dining set; the table couldn't be stabilised and the chairs lost all their padding.. Dwell got them to come and look, and sure enough FIRA wrote a report saying they found the same, however That didn't make Dwell refund me! Instead Dwell said they had been sent a different piece of the same report and when I asked to see it, said ''we can't do that'' !

I had to threaten Dwell with court--3 letters I sent them on the advice of Consumer Direct.. then I got a call from someone high up in Dwell and they refunded me, they wouldn't give me back the delivery fee though! Made me take a credit note!

Re: Refund being delayed by Furniture 247

In addition to the really good advice you have received from others, there is another route you could try. This is FIRA (Furniture Industry Regulatory Association), though possibly only if this company is a member. In fact, I wouldn' t buy furniture from a company who wasn't. Take a look at their website. www.fira.co.uk

FIRA were very helpful to me some years back after I bought stuff from DFS, and was having problems getting a refund after having refused a repair.

Re: Refund being delayed by Furniture 247

You can go to the Financial Ombudsman, but that takes time, I am with them now because Santander refuse to give me the Visa Chargeback. Or you can take them to court, I have read on the review centre site that people have already taken them to court. I have spoken to Trading Standards who say there aren't enough complaints so they won't do anything about them!

You won't get Furniture247 to give you your money back--this appalling company says that if you don't want their damaged goods (that they send to everyone--a quick delivery), that you have to pay out of your own pocket to send the goods back--this would cost me almost £500, plus they will take a further 29% from your card. They have Breached the Distance Selling Reulations and the Sale of Goods Act, 1979.

I ordered a dining set, the chairs EACH weigh 16 Kilo's, one chair arrived with a split in it, I haven't unpacked the table, I cannot move the chairs they're so heavy. Each time I contact them I have been ignored, save for one recent email, ''What is the problem with your furniture????????, Kind Regards'' written in miniscule text.

In the initial emails from them I was told to send them back at my own cost and they should arrive in ''perfect condition'', telling me that they would take a further 29%.

ALL this vile company are after, is your money.

Left Nationwide a message this morning about it, they do have a VISA disputes service so hopefully they will suggest something. They work wonders though as you at least get your money and then you can leave them to do the chasing!

Okay, well I guess you've never heard the joke about the 4 biggest lies in the World - 1 of which is 'yes the cheque is in the post'! Sounds like you should contact Nationwide Debit services, to see if they can get a clawback from the retailer.

Re: Refund being delayed by Furniture 247

If you'd read it I said I was waiting to see if the cheque arrived as promised as the story about my card been renewed is a legit one. Now that's failed I'm off to do the letter!

But what about this chargeback thing as well? That sounds like it might work quicker and easier than going through courts!

Re: Refund being delayed by Furniture 247

"I may give them a few more days as because my card expired and got renewed, they have to refund me by cheque, which I'm fine with. I called up I think yesterday so if I wait till the end of the week, then do your letter idea along with another phone call, then that's a start!" Seems to me that Huckster has given you excellent advice - and yet you continue using the useless telephone route, which you have already demonstrated most ably that it doesn't actually work. Send them a letter (by recorded delivery) giving them 7 working days to comply - and if they don't then make a claim in the small claims Court. It's very simple, and you can get costs as well.

Re: Refund being delayed by Furniture 247

Well it's been over a week and still nothing and yet again every time I phone I get told I'd be rung back and nothing happens. The guy even gave me a name Brian Kass to work on, which I bet is fake considering what they are doing.

I have sent them an email demanding an explanation and also stating that I will resort to a written complaint, which I will type up on Friday and mail out recorded delivery the same day. I'll then give them a week from receipt of the letter to respond before I resort to legal pursuit.

In the end I don't care who refunds me, but you mentioned the card issuer doing it. I use VISA DEBIT with Nationwide, who do I contact and how do I go about getting a refund from them as that might work fine, it's how I got my Orange claim money back, by getting a refund under the Direct Debit Guarantee with my bank.

Re: Refund being delayed by Furniture 247

If I were you, I would send the company a recorded delivery letter advising that unless the refund is received in X no. of days, you will be looking to take proceedings in the small claims court.

CAB page on small claims. http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/index/your_rights/legal_system/small_claims.htm

Alternatively, if you paid by credit card or Visa Debit card, speak to the card supplier about getting a refund from them. If a trader fails to supply goods you have paid for, under section 75, the card company has to refund you. The card company may need to send you a form to pursue this.

Refund being delayed by Furniture 247

    Hi

I've been trying to get hold of a refund from the above website since back in late December, but they keep sending mediocre responses to emails, sometimes not replying at all, and everytime I phone, the guy will say, ok will do, but then I never see anything get done. In fact yesterday I asked him to do it again, he said he'd send a confirmation email, and one never came.

It was for part of an invoice in which the xmas guarantee was breached by the business forcing me to find other means of a dining table for New Years. Therefore I seek to claim the table proportion of the invoice (keeping the chairs/coffee table that arrived earlier) as a refund as is allowed by their T & C's.

But still these delays are taking their time and we're talking a good £500+ here. If I still continue to get no luck with them, whats the next best step?
