Re: Excessive billing/invoicing from Orange Mobile Broadband

    Emil_london:

I signed up for Orange Mobile Broadband in August 2009.

My data allowance was 3 GB monthly.

Been with T-Mobile and Vodafone Mobile broadband with same allowance the past 2 years. Never went above the limit. I have these invoices saved.

I have been very modest with my internet usage, made small downloads (Windows update) and used Facebook and accessed my email.

Orange claim that I have been using 19 GB data within 6 weeks and they now have a claim on me for £969,15.

Been declining the invoices to their Executive department - first they offered 25% off, and then 50%.

They can not promise that they will not give a bad credit report.

I will take this to CISAS who regulates Orange.

Not sure where to go with this but I'm sure someone will be along soon to help.

What I can say with orange is be very careful. They have a nasty habit of placing 'not paid' notes onto credit files and then ask questions later. They have very poor communication between apartments so make sure every conversation is logged, who you spoke to, at what time and how long the call was.

I had an issue 3 years ago where I went aboard for a week and contacted them to see if they had any deals on there international calls. I was basically miss old an add-on package and ended up with a bill of over £1000.

It took me 12 months to sort out, in which time they destroyed my credit history and basically made it difficult. In the end I managed to talk to a manager who seemed to have her head screwed on, she sorted it in a matter of a week.

Just be on the ball and don't forget to ask for things in writing. Just minimise your chances of getting the wool pulled over your eyes.
