RBS, Natwest etc do specialised accounts for teenagers with online access etc. If i remember correctly they also do a special account for under 12's as well.

thank you - Halifax one looks ok, but they are regular savers, and I just wanted somewhere to plonk a lump sum with small amounts going in and out at occasional times in the year. Maybe I should do this anyway as well and eat out of the lump sum.

Although limited due to all the facilities you require. After a brief check I came across these; if you wish to check them for suitability.

Try the compare over 300 current accounts function to the right of your post, clicking in student & young person box.. will give you an initial starter.

Childrens bank accounts - internet, self management

HI, I have 2 children, age 10 and 7 whose £3500 each is wasting away in a branch. I'd like them to get a decent rate of interest, and, since we live in the country and I dont want to spend petrol money to stand in a queue(!) to manage their money, can you recommend a good bank account which they can have which:

    1. Maybe managed through the post office (eg Alliance and Leicester) or, preferably

    2. Online so they can use the Bank of Mummy and I can transfer money easily between them and me?

    3. Sensible rate of interest?

    4. Instant access

I want the accounts in their names, and for them to manage at a point when I give them control over the book/passwords, but for me to manage for the time being.

    Many thanks.. loubylou
