Re: No bill for a year

    Mynewt:

There is no law or legisaltion that prevents suppliers billing for consumption over a year old.

There is however a billing code of practise that many suppliers have signed up to. (not all have however).

The billing code in prevents suppliers billing for consumption over 1 year old in certain conditions,

With respect I feel that is a tad misleading. All suppliers are "prevented from billing for consumption over 1 year old in certain conditions" regardless of whether they are Code signatories or not. The Code is a voluntary agreement which gives force to the regulations and which goes a little further than the regulatory minimum. Maxsteam's post gives chapter and verse, well page number to the "certain conditions".

The billing code in prevents suppliers billing for consumption over 1 year old in certain conditions, there are also conditions where it does not apply. If you feel this may affect you perhaps let us know the situation with any and all pertinant facts that you have and we cna help you figure out if it applies or not.

    No bill for a year

Please could I have more detail on the point that "an energy supplier should, by law, only charge you for the past one years worth of energy if they have failed to bill you correctly" - what is the law that I should quote, and is there a definition of 'incorrectly'. Really appreciate your help!
