    Re: Sofa Delivery

When you sign for acceptance of unchecked goods you should sign, "goods not inspected at point of delivery," however that will only give you a short opportunity in which to reasonably notify them that the goods were actually damaged upon arrival, especially as you plan to remove the goods to a different address to which they were originally delivered.

This reasonable period will only be a couple of weeks after the delivery date, therefore to cover yourserlf you should remove the packaging and thoroughly inspect the goods at the point of delivery. Then and only then when you are happy... should you sign as received in good condition, afterwards replace the packaging as securely as you possibly can.

    Sofa Delivery

    Hello,

I put an offer on a property 9/10 weeks ago and with one week to go went into the property to measure the sizes etc to order my new sofa. Unfortunately the property fell through; however me being a pessimist I ordered the sofa for the last week in November (the latest that I could before Christmas).

Since then I have had an offer on another property accepted and due to complete around the 1st December. I have contacted DFS and have arranged to have the sofa delivered to my moms address and stored in the garage for a week until I move in.

I am reluctant to take it out of the packaging until I have it at my new place; however this means I cannot inspect it for damage etc. Is there anything I can do with the delivery people to insure that if there is a problem, they won't claim it was damaged when I moved it to my new house?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Dangerman
