In the current circumstances I would rent furnished and put your possessions into storage.

I did this a few years ago to ensure that I didn't lose my purchaser - I know you say you sold in two weeks but if you back out it could be months( or even years) before you find a new buyer!

Once you have exchanged contracts and completed on the house, you are obliged to vacate the premises on the date as mutually agreed through the Solicitors.

From that said date on; the house is the legal property of the purchaser, only if they wished to rent it back to you or give their permission.. would you have any right to stay at the property. Some people either back out of the sale or rent another place in this position, or alternatively stay at friends or relatives, whilst placing their possessions into storage until they find a permanent abode.

    Selling my house online...great but...

Imagine my surprise when I left my local agents who had spent 5 months getting me about 3 viewings and I then decide to try out one of these online estate agents who cover almost every single property website on the internet - I was pretty wary because of the low fees they offered but I thought it was worth a shot..anyway to cut a long story short I ended up selling in about 2 weeks!!..GREAT huh? No...it's taken me so much by surprise now I have nowhere to go (can't find anywhere) I don't want to rent and have to move twice. Can you sell and rent back without it causing a legal problem? Will they be able to force me out at any point or do we enter some contract? If so where can I get one? or do I have to pay more solicitors fees? Any help appreciated. Thanks, Marc
