Maxstream is correct, it is going to be very important that you check the agreement that you have with your landlord, ideally you'll have something in writing. You may need to present a copy to your supplier especially if your landlord attempts to give a different picture of events.

So long as the arrangement can be proven, I find it extremely unlikely that the supplier when given the full facts would install a PPM meter (they may isntall one if they not aware of the isutation and are under the impression the landlord is living at the property for example).

If possible It would more-than-likely prove more beenficial for you to have your rent lowered and you pay for your own energy consumption this would give you far greater control of what happens.

    Any problems let us know.

A lot depends on what arrangement you have for paying for your electricity. If there is no arrangement and the meters switch to prepayment meters, you may find that you are paying for the electricity that you use as well as the electricity that hasn't been paid for in the past.

Landlord's changed to pre payment method

I just need some advice, I am concerned about the electricty I use, the landlord pays for it, but i've been receving letters that they have been making late payments and telling them to change their meters. No meter was changed inside my flat but the payment came and and it stated the pre payment / standard meter tariff. I am single tenant and I rent, I am concerned my electricity will be cut off due to the fact the landlord never pays them on time and because of this, it has been changed. I know I can't complain since it's been paid by the landlord but they never make payments on time and I am the single occupant. I am not happy and I much prefer the direct debit method. I am concerned my electricty may get cut off, should the landlord notify me of these changes?

    Regards,
