It might be an idea for your family to avoid diary products

Yes, if they have accidental damage cover on their Contents Insurance. As to whether it is worth it, would depend on the excess that applies to the policy and by how much the policy premium would increase as a result of claiming.

Your parents would have to decide whether or not to make a claim. It may just be better to clean the bed as much as possible and wait for the milk smell to go away. The smell of milk will go away after a week or so.

What you would find if your parents tried to claim, is that the Insurers could opt just to get the bed cleaned. I don't know what the cost of cleaning would be, but it could be less than the excess or only marginally more. If below the excess you can't claim and if only a bit more than the excess, it would not be worth claiming.

If two claims are recorded on the policy, your parents should expect a fairly large increase in premium and possibly an increase in the excess for accidental damage claims. This is why following your sisters claim, it might not be a good idea to put in another.

    Spillage - Please help!

    Hi there,
I've just been an absolute idiot and spilt milk all over my bed!! I have home insurance, contents, with Churchill and I was just wondering whether I will be covered?

It is really beginning to smell and I've been sleeping on the sofa! I am totally new to the insurance game, and it is going through my parents policy as I live in their house.

Currently there is another claim going through about a broken sink, in which my sister dropped a container of cream which cracked the sink!

So generally wondering whether this can actually be claimed under home insurance and whether the other claim will affect it.

    Many thanks :)
