    Re: Hire purchase advice

    Hello All,

A quick update on the above. Since handing in my letter of cancellation and also returning the log book, I have heard nothing from the company concerned. Do you think it's worth contacting them and mentioning the 3 party liability finance rules. They still have lots of my money paid as deposit.I have emailed the company and left messages with reception to contact me , but no reponse as yet. The only document I signed was the vehicle order form , I have not signed a hire purchase agreement.I have not taken delivery of the vehicle.

Has anybody got any thoughts on how i should proceed with matters now. ?

    Thanks once again.

Thank you for the advice Max ,I am going to do as you suggest and see what comes of it. I really don't see them having a problem getting rid of the vehicle, as there will always be a demand for this particular model.

    Re: Hire purchase advice

Where you stand will depend to a large extent on what was on the documents that you signed. You need to look at those carefully.

It is worth putting your cancellation in writing (mentioning the date when you phoned to cancel) and considering legal action to recover something from the £5k deposit if the garage wont cooperate. My feeling is that it is reasonable for the garage to deduct the cost of signwriting, storage and readvertising but you should still ask for a breakdown of any such deductions so that, if they are excessive, you can dispute them.

    Hire purchase advice

    Hi there,

I am hoping someone can give me some good advice on my rights when having to cancel on a vehicle hire purchase agreement.

At the time they gave me around a 3000 discount on the vehicle due to the special arrangement they have with the company i work for, and having the vehicle sign written was included.

Having paid a deposit of 5000 pounds on a vehicle .I have now decided to cancel due to a stress related incident , meaning i will most likely not be able to keep up payments should i fall ill in the future.

I informed the dealer of my intention , but he says that as the vehicle has been registered in my name, he will most likely have to sell the vehicle at a discounted price, if he cannot deregister the vehicle with the DVLA.

He says that he has some people that he may be able to sell the vehicle to , but they will most likely want big money off due to it being technically a second hand vehicle.

I have not even taken the vehicle from the dealer premises, nor has it turned a wheel.

At no time have i signed the final agreement allowing them to take money in monthly installments for the hire purchase. The only document i signed was the actual order form for the vehicle.

The dealer has come up with different figures that they may keep from my initial deposit increasing in amounts every time i have spoken to him.

    Can

any one help me on this one ?.
