Cash ISA

    Can a cash ISA be opened in a joint account.

    My wife and I have our bank account and savings in joint accounts and we would to keep things going in this way.

    No they have to be individual names as it is only yourselves as individuals that have tax status. Split the money in half and have one each.

    Thanks for you help,

    it puts me off ISA's slightly as the benefits of joint accounts may be better than ISA's in our circumstances

    The main benefit of ISAs is that they pay interest (assuming you are talking about cash ISAs) without tax being withheld so unless you are both non tax payers there should be some advantage to having one.

    Yes there are some slight cash benefits but not enough to pull us away from joint account savings.
    I want my wife to have instant access to our money should I die (over 70 and quite well at the moment).
    Easy access at a very difficult time is hard to put a cash value on.
