In addition to Jalexa's advice it is better to over-estiamte than under. Being that refunds are generally easier to come by than extra funds for on-going higher than predicted consumption plus arrears.

    Michelle.Howden:

How do I know what my consumption is going to be?

And how can I use these comparison sites without a previous supplier?

Regarding the second question, refer to my post in this previous thread...

Regarding your first question, you might not know "accurately" for a year but there are Consumer Focus assumptions for low, medium and heavy consumption. Just answer the comparison site prompts. Only heating consumes big numbers but a new build house will be fairly well insulated so probably low to medium will be a reasonable "guesstimate".

New Build, First Time Buyer - Utility Bills help!!

    Hello,

I am a first time buyer, I have bought a 3 storey, mid terrace townhouse, I am going to be living on my own initially, looking to take on a lodger in the near future. I work during the week, mainly 9-5, Mon-Fri.

The house is a new build and as I am a first time buyer, I nor the house has had gas or electricity before. The comparison sites keep asking for my previous supplier, I haven't had one, and there is no option there for new build!

How do I know what my consumption is going to be? I have an electric oven with a gas hob, other than that, I have laptop, tv and the odd electrical item, hairdryer etc.

Is anyone able to help me regarding untis i may consume? And how can I use these comparison sites without a previous supplier?

    Thanks
