why did the bank retain my cash card?

I went my weekly shop and went to withdraw cash fromthe cashpoint, I had funds in the account and the cash point retained my card and said I had to contact the bank, I called telephone banking and they couldn't tell me anything and said to go to my branch and they will explain, also my internet banking logs on and I see the amount but it will not go into transactions,it says no information can be given over the phone, I am really worried about this as it is Sunday I cant get to the bank until tomorrow, I have debts but I dont understand why this has happend, can anyone help?

    Is this NatWest/RBS?

It could be there was a fault with the card or the banks IT system has noticed irregular transactions. The banks systems have in-built security that can automatically stop cash withdrawal and retain the card when next used.

If you contact your bank on Monday, they will look into and order you a new card. You can obviously still withraw money over the counter, with a cheque. But I would suggest that you take other forms of identity, credif card, driving licence.

Hope that you manager to sort this matter out and that it is not anything more complicated.
