Idea [I] Paying for a wedding - credit card or loan?

    Hello,

I would appreciate your advice on the most cost effective way to pay towards a wedding. The wedding is in a Euro zone, next February, and we require ~£7500 to pay for the various bookings. There appear to be some good loan deals with low interest over 2-3 year payments, but what about credit cards? Many offer no interest on foreign transactions for 8-12 months.

I currently have a loan I am paying off with Halifax (1 year into a 3 year repayment scheme with no defaults), 2 credit cards with very low/no balances, and my fiance has 1 credit card with less than £500 balance to pay off. We have a mortgage and both of us employed full time.

I don't wish to start the loan hunt/application process for risk of upsetting my rating, and I hope someone who has been through a similar experience may offer some practical advice?

    Thanks for your recommendations!

The best way, without a doubt, is to save up, spend no more than you can afford and not start married life with the burden of a large debt. I hope that's not being too practical.
