What you describe is not common. Perhaps it is a non UK account or you have used SWIFT transfers? If so most organisations woul have imposed the same charge.

If they charged you but scr*wed the transfers then do what conmankiller suggests.

the account was their saver account that gave 3.2% interest for a year, to me it was a simple investment for a period when the interest rates in the UK are very low. they charge £25 for each day you have not paide this setup fee. more annoying is that they did not manage to transfer my money in the 3 days they say is required, had that happened then they would have still taken their £25 setup fee and how long would it take me to get that back on the 3.2% interest rate!

I can understand you feeling upset at an account fee that you were unaware of would be charged, however what would they sue you for? Your account has been debited, rightly or wrongly, and will stay that way until paid off or refunded.

A good test of whether the fee was clear or not is to revisit the account particulars with the benefit of hindsight and check how obvious the fee was.

Is this their Gold account and are they saying you haven't met the funding requirement?

Write to their customer services at their head office asking for the full return of all the fees you consider they have unfairly deducted, informing them you intend to complain to the FOS below if the situation is still unresolved after Eight weeks.

I opened and account with them and was £50 in debt due to the fees they charged for opening the account which I was unaware off and these where charged during a period when they should have transferred money into my account!! No way will I keep this account going and they can sue me if they want!! A bunch of con merchants!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
