    Re: Early redemption mortgage fees

While I am no expert in the financial market, I have to ask what do you expect them to do.

It sounds very much like they've met their obligations under the contract, and you want something for your loyalty. It appears to be not worth their money to offer this, as ultimately there a business that needs to make money. Either accept the offer or take up an offer from another provider, you can't make them offer you a special offer.

(unless of course you have a singed contract stating the contrary).

    Early redemption mortgage fees

Hi we had a fixed 5 year mortgage and due to my husband's job had to relocate, consequently we sold our house 6 months before our mortgage was due to end. We were penalised 3% of the advance on the mortgage account this came to over £4,000. We have now found another house 8 months after ending the mortgage and would like to continue with the same building society. We have asked as a goodwill or a show of loyalty for them to compensate us with some of the penalty or else waiver the new set up fee which is another £1,000. They are not willing to do either. Do we have any legal leg to stand on in order to take this matter further. They said if we'd had a new mortgage with them 5 months ago we would have had our costs back.

As you may apreciate this causes a very bad taste in our mouths and for quickness we have opted to go with them but really do not feel we should give them some of our loyalty.

Any advice you can give on this matter would be grately received.
