    Alliance & Leicester Premier Account

The majority of people have never switched their current account – in fact we’re more likely to get divorced than change bank. A number of providers are seeking to alter our behaviour and get us in to the switching habit by offering incentives to new current account customers. I switched to the Alliance & Leicester Direct Account, getting 5% interest for the first year which is great. I found the transaction longer than expected, but thorough, mostly hassle free and overall a good decision.

Re: Alliance & Leicester Premier Account

    Hi all,

Just a note to say that if you're thinking about taking advantage of the £100 switching offer for the A&L Premier Current Account, remember that it's a limited offer and applications close this Sunday - 8th November.

It's also worth bearing in mind that you're not eligible if you already hold an Alliance & Leicester, Abbey, cahoot or Cater Allen current account (or have done in the last three months). Within 11 weeks of opening it, you need to deposit at least £500 in the account and switch all your direct debits to the account. Remember - you must ask to use their Switching Service at the application stage and if you don't have any direct debits to switch, you won't be eligible for the £100... Well worth remembering!

    I hope that helps.
    Graeme

    Shouldn't that be "not eligible"?

Indeed... Fatal error! That'll teach me to take a leaf out of Felicity's book and re-read the things I type... Amended!
