Have you taken any time to read any of the other posts or contributions on this community? Have you noticed how many points are next to Huckster's name?

He has given lots of people like yourself lots of good advice and has not been judgmental in any of the posts.

Unfortunately your attitude (in only your second post on this community) will not endear others to give you advice, at the risk of you misreading it.

    Agreed.

A massive LOL at a newbie slating an experienced and valued member of the MS.com forums just for giving their advice - seriously, Tiffany, I suggest you trying eating a massive slice of humble pie in your next post (if you actually bother to post again that is).

Crikey Tiffany you do sound vile. I'm glad not to have to wake up next to you every morning, though I bet you're single. I think you ought to invest in a donkey or an ass (or do I mean you sound like a right one!). Or you could just walk every where or even move. Tibet is nice this time of year. You really should take a long look at what you wrote and apologise to Huckster.

It was a good job that I did not suggest that they bought a bicycle instead of a car. I was tempted.

UNBELIEVABLE!!!!... (see I can write in shouting text too!)

Huckster has taken the time and energy to read your post and provide advice on your situation with the information that you provided.

You have stated that you have been making payments which were not covering the interest and that your student loan causing you to go into arrears, from this Huckster has assumed that you did not have additional funds to pay more against your debts to avoid arrears as otherwise wouldn't you have done this?

Regardless of not knowing they didn't cover the required amount if you did want to pay your debt off, wouldn't you have been making additional payments?

Paying them only the minimum wouldn't help you do this, but would help you avoid any late payment penalties and loss of any discounted deals.

    tiffany1977:

I can afford a loan!!!!!!!! Thankyou very much Mr judgemental !!! i havent missed any payments! ... <cut>... so i am learning an expensive mistake! its got nothin to do wth not been able to afford a loan!

Dont bother writing back to reply to me cos i dont wanna hear anything you have to say as you have NOT HELPED me in any way attall or given me any adivce tha i didnt already know! .... <Cut out rant here>

Hucksters statement wasn't a judgment but advice about avoiding the vicious circle of debt. Most advice that you will (or have already) read will say that it is advisable not to get into further debt (new loans etc) to get out of debt. (there are some cases where this can work, with careful planning, dedicated budgeting and regular monitoring)

You have assumed that the reason for not being able to get another loan was because of your arrears and charges.

Have you asked the lender that rejected your application? Did they tell you to get a copy of your credit report? Did you check it to see what it says about your credit worthiness?

You have stated (as we all know) that it is more difficult to get credit, and one of the main areas is on affordability. When assessing if you can afford the new loan, they look at how you have managed your credit, your income and potential outgoings. They may also take a worst case view, where they (the lender) assume that you would be continuing to pay your credit card and student loan and the new loan at the same time and assess if you could afford this.

If you also do the same worst case view and it is possible, then the problem most likely lies in your credit report.

    .

It is good that you already knew to read the articles and advice that Huckster has gone to the trouble of posting, but why didn't you say in your post that you already sought advice and that you determined that a loan was the right way forward, so that we didn't give you advice you already knew?

At no point in your post to you give specifics about the debt, the lenders, the payments, or the interest rates.

This detail may also help others give you advice.

    Re: cant get credit!

Huckster is right - you are clearly not very clever at managing your accounts, and yet you want to place yourself in further debt by borrowing to pay back a debt! If hucksters excellent advice is viewed as being patronising then you came to the wrong place to tell everybody how you blatantly failed to manage what debt you already have.

If you think that managing your credit card debt by making a series of minimum payments is just fine, you need to think again. There is a credit crunch because of people over borrowing and failing to manage their repayments.

Moving house and failing to tell your bank is just negligent!

I can afford a loan!!!!!!!! Thankyou very much Mr judgemental !!! i havent missed any payments! i didnt realise my minimun payments were not covering the high interest! if id have known this i would have payed more!!!!! ok!!! i moved address and havent read my mail as i have not changed address with my bank and creditcard company! so i am learning an expensive mistake! its got nothin to do wth not been able to afford a loan!

Dont bother writing back to reply to me cos i dont wanna hear anything you have to say as you have NOT HELPED me in any way attall or given me any adivce tha i didnt already know! ....what a stupid comment! if everyone in the world had enough money nobody would even bother getting a loan would they! Everybody that applies for a loan clearly havent got the funds available so i am just the same as anyone else out there looking for a loan except i have bad credit due to my own fault not through not having the money! its very hard to get credit at the moment as it is a credit crunch after allso perhaps that is the reason!!!! ......so i will thank you bot to judge me and keep your stupid opinions to yourself and GET A LIFE! have you got nothing better to do than put others down and be PATRIONISING!!!!!

    GRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!

    Re: cant get credit!

    Hi

It sounds like you could not afford a loan anyway, so unless a car is absolutely essential to get to work, I think I would forget that idea.

Instead you should be getting some advice to deal with the Credit Card debt. See the following about looking how to budget to save some money, to start paying back the debt. http://www.moneysupermarket.com/c/news/working-out-a-personal-budget/0005757/

This is the Citizens advice page on debt . http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/index/life/debt.htm

Have a good look at your possessions. Are there any items that you don't need and can sell?

Once your debt becomes more manageable and your credit rating improves, you could then be in a position to obtain finance at a decent rate.

You are quite right to avoid any loan companies that charge upfront fees. You will end up losing money and be left waiting for up to 6 months to see if they can find you a loan. And don't be tempted to go to one of the finance companies that also sell cars. They charge high interest for over priced cars and then if you were ever late with a payment, they will stitchy you up with charges/increased interest rates.

If you don't deal with debt, it can spiral out of control and then you will regret taking out any further loans.

    cant get credit!

Ive recently applied for a loan to buy a car and to pay off my credit card debt, but have been refused by everyone! I have never missed any payments before but without realising my direct debit payments have not been covering the interest on my creditcards and student loan causing me to to go into arrears and incur charges. I think this must be the reason why i have been refused credit.

Is there anywere i can go to, to get a loan from?...... I have been contacted by a lot of dodgy loan companies that have wanted money up front! i know that these companies are all scams. Is there any loan companies out there that will lend to people with bad credit which have not got extravagent interest rates and dont want money up front!

    please help!!
