    KatieB4:

Why are ISA rates lower than savings rates? Savings rates are much the same, net of basic tax, so ISA is no real benefit

You are right that rates are disappointingly low ATM, however if you are saving for the longer term maybe in time rates will recover and/or tax rates will increase and if you haven't saved in an ISA you will have lost your tax-free allowance.

Regarding your last question, unfortunately not.

    Rajini:

There are a few providers which offer tiered (but not necessarly high) rates for balances well in excess of £3,600 individual contribution I would suggest you keep the current year's contribution and the previous year's separate (which they legally are). Just look for the best provider for your new contributions and the best provider for the transfer.

Some providers don't accept transfers anyway.

    Hi Rajini,

You can use the comparison tool on the right ------>

Select Cash Isa and enter 5K (for the transfer) and then the amount of additional contributions (up to 3600 per year).

This should supply you with a comparison.

    Sparky.

I have cash miniISA for the last 2 years with HSBC for myself and my wife, not getting enough interest. Can anyone tell me which one will be better to transfer my ISA to some one which provides better rate.
I have around 5K and 4K in each from my previous ISA, I could deposit this years ISA if i get a better rate. Thank you. I have tried the comparison, bit confusing to me. I am not over 50
