I agree with Huckster's advice, it is very difficult to get a private car Insurer to accept no claims bonus from a Motor Trade Policy. As he has advised the first port of call is normally the Motor Trade Insurer, alternatively I assume you bought the policy through a broker, it would be worth also speaking to them as they will normally pull some favours in to get an Insurer to accept the no claims bonus.

Once you have completed a year on a private car policy your no claims bonus will then be a proper private car no claims bonus so should be accepted by the entire market

    Hi

Approach the Insurers who provided the Trade Insurance policy, as they may be the only ones who can help.

You could phone the BIBA ( British Insurers Brokers Association) helpline 0870 950 1790 to see if they know of any other company who may be able to help.

    Need help if possible!!

    Hi,

Im trying to get a quote on car insurance but having some issues. I built up 6 years no claims on a private policy, then I became self employed and had a trade policy for the last 3 years. I am now being told that my trade policy does not count and that I have zero no claims. I find this ridiculous as I believed I had 9 years. Plus, it makes the insurance just unaffordable. Can anyone help me or does anyone know who will accept trade policy no claims?

    Regards,

    Jonathan
