You need to contact your banks helpline. They probably have placed a block on your account, after seeing lots of withdrawals from abroad. This can be done automatically by computer, so you need to speak to a human to overide.

The block is to stop fraudulent transactions. They may think your card has been stolen to skimmed.

I've just read something from my or one of the banks that says no problem using cards abroad BUT so you have no problems anywhere let us know before you go so they could programme something.

    withdrawing cash abroad

Hi everyone, I hope this is the right forum for this....

I'm current in NZ and have been using my natwest debit card to withdraw cash with no problems (I've also been able to do this in the US, Fiji and Europe), however, today I tried several ATM's and all gave an error message saying that I couldn't withdraw the amount I wanted - i tried different amounts from different ATM's, still no luck. When I used my credit card to withdraw cash it worked - any ideas what could be going on here? I'm also unable to log onto online banking (it's 'currently unavailable'), so ican't check on there either.

Any help much appreciated, as obviously ringing the bank from the other side of the world is going to be tricky and expensive!
