    But the basic question still remains, is there a difference between Visa and mastercard? Can it really just be a coincidence that every credit card i have is mastercard?

    Your problem is that Virgin and MBNA are basically the same organisation and balance transfers aren't allowed between the two.

    All of my 6 credit cards are Mastercards. My credit rating on Experian is 999 (max score) ie excelent. I have £ 4,000 on a virgin mastercard which i would like to transfer to a 12 month zero rate account. I applied for a Visa card with MBNA and was turned down online.

    Q Is there a difference between credit approval for Visa and Mastercard?
