    Re: Ground Source Heat Pumps

I have installed groundsource and airsource heat pumps in my propertys over the last 7 or 8 years

Simply, Groundsource is expensive to install (5 bed new build 17k +cost of trenching) so on our other property we installed airsourced (5 bedroom new build 8k fitted)

Running costs are prettywell the same av.£1.70 per day 365 days a year.

Pros ....eco friendly, possibly a good future selling point, practically silent. air source quicker payback

Cons....Water temp is between 47 & 54 deg so a boost/immersion heater is required to raise domestic hw above 60 degrees to kill legionella. Works the best with underfloor heating as lower temps are used. Radiators require oversizing by 20%ish

We have just linked a wastewood boiler to our air source system and are now getting free heating and hot water no more immersion boost either

    Hope this helps
