Re: Halifax visa - unfair charges

How did you make the payment?
Over the counter? Have you got the stamped credit slip?
Telephone Banking? Ask for a supervisor to pul the recorded call.
Online Banking? All transactions are recorded - ask the online banking helpdesk to pull the transaction record.
Cheque/Debit card through the post? What date was the cheque cashed/debit card payment cleared.

I using any of these methods you can prove the payment was made in line with your terms and conditions and it was Halifax's fault you should write with the proof to their complaints dept. You should not have to pay charges because they screwed up (again) if on the other hand you don't have proof you may have to pay charges complain anyway if you have followed up when you got each bill and they have said they will investigate and haven't they may waive ome or all of the charges. Whatever happens if you can prove they have made a screw up get them to mend your credit file otherwise you will have a "3 down" on a credit card which may make it mo0re difficult applying for credit in future.

    Halifax visa - unfair charges

I paid the balance of my Halifax credit card on the 24th of February 2006. Only on the 20th of June was this payment recognised! Since my payment on the 24th of February I cancelled the direct debit to this account as, as far as I was concerned it was no longer necessary to make monthly payments when I had zero balance.

Anyway since that date I have received numerous letter and phone calls by totally inept customer services people at the Halifx. Each time I spoke to them they took the same details down and informed me it would take five working days to sort - clearly it didn't.

So today I have been told that I may still be liable to pay the charges that have been incurred on my account since the 24th of February to date. Can this be possible?! £126 is a lot of money when I've done all I could to let them know that I've paid it. I'm at my wits end!
