Just a word of advice if you don't have a UK address, therefore can't open a UK mainland savings account:

Don't be tempted to open an account on the Isle of Man (or Jersey or Guernsey).

Read what happened to 10,000 people who did on www.ksfiomdepositors.org many of whom have lost their life savings.

Then type "Don't Bank on the Isle of Man" into the search box on www.YouTube.com and you'll understand why.

You can still buy UK Premium Bonds if you live abroad - no interest but at least a chance of winning something! www.nsandi.com

    Hope this helps.

    riochaplain:

To look at the question you pose, the first question is what address do you intend to use for your online application?

Next, is that address verifiable as a current address using credit reference agency records? If it is, what happens to any correspondence sent to that address?

Given a positive answer to the above, yes it's possible. Otherwise it's not.

Abroad for a few months: Opening a Savings Account by Internet only

    Hi,

I'm normally resident in the UK but am currently living abroad. I'm about to inherit around 75 k and want to open an Account for it to gain some Interest. Do you know of any I can open by the Internet only as I can't pop back to the UK and sign forms etc.

    Thanks

    D
