Unfortuantely, your daughters accidents do count against your record and therefore you will have to declare. If you don't Insurers could make void any policy and not pay a claim.

You may be better phoning companies if you have the full details of claims, so that details can be taken and they can answer any questions you may have.

The reason why they are counted twice is that Insurers require details of any claims or accidents. So you have to declare the claims against a policy in your name and obviously you daughter has to declare her history, when obtaining her own insurance.

    Previous claims - named driver

I would appreciate some advice please. Three years ago my daughter (then 17) was added as a named driver to my policy when she passed her driving test. Unfortunately in the next 2 years she had 2 accidents whilst driving my car where she was at fault and which resulted in small claims against my policy. She then got her own car and own policy and has been accident free for about 18 months. I removed her from my policy when she took out her own. I have been accident free for over 5 years but my daughter's 2 accidents mean my no claims bonus is now 3 years. Well I am now looking at renewing my policy and the questions asked by insurers ask about claims in the last 5 years and fault - I have been filling this in giving details of the 2 claims but nowhere does it give me the opportunity to say that I was not the driver and that the driver at fault is no longer to be covered by the policy. There is about a 25% difference in premium between admitting the 2 accidents and not doing so. I want to be totally honest but feel I am being penalised for a driver no longer on my policy. Incidentally my daughter must also admit these accidents (quite rightly) buut it doesn't seem right that we both get penalised. Am I doing something wrong? Would I be better phoning companies?
