There is a company called world-first.co.uk that may have an alternative. You would need to give them a call.

The other alternatives are to speak to an Austrian Insurance Broker or if you have a credit card see if they have a travel insurance provider who may be able to help. Whoever provides the Insurance, will have to underwrite additional endorsements to the cover and they will charge a higher premium to the standard product.

Hi,

I'm currently working in Austria on a university placement but plan to go skiing from 19th Dec to 24th Dec. Now since I will already be in Austria at the start of the trip, I am having difficulty finding insurance from a UK company since they insist that the trip starts and ends in the UK. I will, of course, be returning to the UK on the 24th Dec.

I imagine Austrian insurance companies are similar but require you to end your trip in Austria.

I am already covered for my placement under a university insurance policy which offers 7 days 'personal' time as an addition to the business trip. This offers the normal travel insurance cover which would be suitable for any normal holiday. But I need some additional insurance for the skiing to protect my hired equipment, ski pass, etc. etc. Is winter sports insurance available from anywhere as a separate package?
