Geez Sparky, by all means clear the debt, but forget the wedding.... if it's gonna stump your chances of a Merc or Porsche. : -- )

Some folk are left in debt, purely because matrimonial bliss doesn't always happen.!

Haha. It's all my own idea too! Doh!

The debt was part of a grand plan to buy two properties so that I could use one to pay off the other. Needless to say it hasn't worked out that way yet..just more bills!

Just continually paying off debt, but finally getting it a bit more under control, despite having to pay thousands for work on the house for damp and a new bathroom (which I haven't finished yet).

    maybe one day...

    Excellent!

I fancy a new merc, or a porsche, but have debts and a wedding to pay for first!

Well its more the car that im looking at is a new car but imported from japan, which is just a Honda Civic Type R. Thats why im looking a loan or hire purchase finance so i own it completely.

I'm in the trade in sales at a Mercedes-Benz Dealership so i know the trade inside out and back to front and what to do when buying. If you or anyone on here needs any help or tips in buying a new or used car and want valuations, dont hesitate to contact me

    Intense:

I did look at leasing the car originally but unfortunately cant do that with the car im curently looking at purchasing so i've been looking at straight hire purchase or a loan. I'm not sure if hire purchase would be a better option as the finance is attached to the car and might help the chances of being accepted?

I thought using my cards regularly with them being paid off before the end of each month as i thought this would help improve my credit ratings.

Using your cards and repaying it every month will help your credit score.

Regarding the car, was it unavailability, or cost that was the decider? (I'm just being nosey).

I tend to look at another website (Honest John) for advice and news with links to deals on new cars and leasing

    http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/buy_sell/buying_new/index.htm

    Good luck with it

I have all my previous addresses on my account.

I've only found out why i should be on the electoral roll or i would have been on there earlier.

    Intense,

It sounds like you are doing the right things. It's a shame you weren't on your electoral roll from the start.

You should check that all your previous address information (for at least the last 3 years) are on the credit record.

If you have a significant available balance (credit limit) on your empty credit cards, this can act against your looking for further credit.

    .

Have you considered leasing rather than a loan?

Help with getting finance - Credit Ratings - How to improve it.

I have recently been looking at getting credit to purchase a new car for myself. I recently spoke to a dealership who had a vehicle in stock that i was looking at. I was offered finance at a fantastic rate, so went for the car. Unfortunately i failed the finance, but instead of being informed the Business Manager pushed me through 5 lenders with some happy to offer me finance but at a higher rate. I was unaware of what this would do to my credit report until i searched my credit report to see why i was turned down.

After searching my credit report i released i had one late payment showing as late or missed, this was down to my credit card which i made my usually payment but hadnt paid a late fee which dragged into the following month. I'm currently querying this with my bank to try and get it removed as i have never missed a payment other than this. I then noticed how many times i have been searched by lenders, all on the same day by this dealership. I've managed to get the majority of them removed but there still lies two. Is there anything i can do with this? I have also moved address about 14months ago in to my own place and i've managed to get myself on the Electoral Role about three months ago which hasnt helped.

I then managed to get a Equifax Credit Rating, which has turned out quite rubbish at on 304 which just abouts puts me in the poor rating group. When braking down why my credit is like this i have come across the following:

I have 6 active accounts and 1 settled account at my current address.

I have 3 active accounts and 6 settled accounts on file at my previous address. It says i should update my grantors with my new address but they all have my new address on there systems :S ??

I've had my oldest account for 6years 2months which is excellent on my profile.

All my payments are upto date which is also excellent

I have no defaults which is also excellent

    Electoral Roll is fair

    Court information is excellent.

I did how ever have two credit cards which were near full but are now completely cleared now.

I have a small overdraft of £650.00 which i rarely use, maybe during the month by £50 but then just transfer some money into the account to put me in credit but dont use it fully anymore.

I paid off my laptop loan and my previous car loan which are now showing up on my profile.

The only thing i have outstanding is my bank loan and never missed a payment.

What can i do to improve my score? to get accepted on finance?

I'm young, 21 working full time, earning a good wage of £30,000 over the last year and my accounts are healthy with a fair bit going into savings to help with the purchase of a new car, though i would need help with finance to fund it. What are my best options? I have been looking at borrowing £15,000 to 17,000 on the car.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks
