Re: Santander -v- Bank of Scotland

You should seek the free assistance of your local CAB who will be able to advise and negotiate a compromise more readily on your behalf with Santander.

You cannot force Santander to change their policy, but should you end up in financial difficulties and ultimately end up in court as a result of their unreasonable attitude...at least you could show you did all within your control to come to a very early arrangement.

This would demonstrate to a court in your favour; that you have acted responsibly......more than could be illustrated by the lender. !

    Santander -v- Bank of Scotland

Hello all, We have two personal loans. One with Santander and the other with RBS.

Unfortunatley, my partner lost their job 3 months ago and with the redundancy payout, we have been able to keep paying bills etc quite comfortably (with the help of some savings too)

Now, the pot is running on almost empty and with todays economic climate, my partner has not been able to secure another full time job (although they have got a two day a week admin and design work)

We have just phoned RBS and asked what we can do... without a second thought, they gave us a payment holiday and told us 'not to worry' when our finances become more settled, we just ring them up and carry on with the full payments. No damage done to our credit rating etc.... wonderful! THANKYOU RBS!!!

Santander on the other hand.... have an option on the customer servies telephone menu which says if you are having trouble paying your loan press '3' (which we did)

When speaking to a customer service operator..... they told us that they do not offer reduced payments or payment holidays. Credit agreements need to be paid on time no matter what.

They do however, offer payment holidays on certain account numbers... but not ours. they said that, catagorically, they are unable to help... and this needs to be paid on time in full each month.

We are truly stuck and feel gutted that this massive company are unable to offer help. Any advice on what we could do???

Sorry - but getting slightly down about this.

    Thanks.
