    Re: Credit card balance transfer

I gave up the idea, did a bit of legwork and transferred to a 0% Post Office card. Took about 10 minutes and sorted. Thanks for the info though.

Hi - any rules they have re balance transfers are likely to to internal. They have no way of knowing that a card isn't in your name which you are transferring to but they may ask you!!! With Barclays you have to apply for the BT after you have activated the card and they place caps on the amount you can BT. Hope this helps

    Re: Credit card balance transfer

Well, no that was just my term. It is a "guaranteed offer" according to the paperwork but I just wondered if anyone else had gone through the process of transferring a balance from the card of a secondary holder to a card in their name. I don't need another credit card I just want to clear a balance. Just thought if someone else had tried and been refused it would save me a bit of wasted effort. Laziness really but I thought the point of these forums was to gain useful information through other people's experience.

    Bartmac:

I fear that offer you have received is not a firm offer but only an invitation to apply. Surely there is a clue in your use of the term "junk mail"?

    Credit card balance transfer

We have just run up a £4k balance on our credit card to have a Summer holiday (as you do) and I now intend to transfer this to a 0% card to pay off gradually. Coincidentally I have just received some junk mail from Barclaycard offering me a balance transfer which looks good. However, the balance I wish to transfer is on a card in my husband's name and I am the secondary card holder. The Barclaycard offer is in my name. Does anyone know if they will let us do this? I would ring Barclaycard but there is absolutely no phone number anywhere on the document. I don't want to apply for the card and then find I can't use it as intended.
