Re: Posts getting moved / going missing

Sparky - It is quite difficult to always intercept a post at the correct time, before it is innocently and inadvertently added to by people only trying to help.

In fairness to the creator of a thread (OP) all the postings made within their thread should really all relate to the original subject, or for the assistance of the thread creator.

When someone places a NEW question that is unrelated into the wrong thread instead of starting their own, the whole existing thread topic becomes somewhat of a jumble, in which the original posters interests can disappear. In fairness to the OP when this happens, we have to move posts to maintain the integrity and intention of the thread, any individual who has a post moved should also receive a notification to explain this fact.

    HTH - Thanks.

    Thanks VCM4,

I could see relevance on the topic for the OP, but your comments are fair and can be seen on the post now for further guidance.

I agree on the topic hijacking, and as this had been moved I was going to make the suggestion to place this in a new thread.

    Thanks

    Sparky.

Sparky check this please, this is by no means the first instance that posts have had to be moved, there have been unrelated posts placed into the middle of a long running unrelated topic, this is not fair to the OP of that thread involved and is indeed, hi-jacking another thread.

    HTH

Posts getting moved / going missing

    Hi there,

Whilst monitoring and reading threads this afternoon, I noticed that the post from MrsGuyan2b about her question on a letter from Barclaycard was moved / removed along with my response.

I eventually found it under a SAR template thread which I believe she had started.

I appreciate that you want to keep things on topic, but I thought that this was related (as it was BC) and the FOS was involved which might also be of help to Nixxy who was previously asking for advice on their case.

I had tried to provide links and a quote, thinking that something weird was happening.

I didn't notice any information from a MOD that this had been moved for a reason, and trying to provide a link, further posts were removed from the MINT thread also.

Is there no way to provide an indicator that something is being moved by a MOD so that we don't go crazy (and upset people) by deleting / moving posts which took a long time to type in - the OP on the letter from Barclaycard, and their position with the FOS.

Thanks for your time reading this.

    Sparky.
