Re: Holiday to Slovakia - need travel insurance to cover me above 2000 metres

    Hi

There are a few insurance companies that will cover over 2,000 metres but under 6,000 metres for an additional premium as this will be classed under one of the categories for Hazardous Activities/Sports.

Best thing to do would be to contact your chosen provider and ask whether they cover Hazardous Activities and the height that you need and what the additional cost to you will be.

    Thanks

I have had a quick look at this. Some Insurers exclude automatically e.g. Insureandgo, you have to phone to enquire whether you can obtain cover and the premium.

Some like Direct Line may cover per wording below provided the bit in bold is correct. But I would phone them to make sure.

    Insured activities
You are automatically covered to do the following non-contact sports if your hotel, holiday
organiser or a recognised provider of the service has arranged them
    .
    Aerobics Cricket
Archery Cycling (but not BMX and mountain bikes)
Badminton Fell walking, rambling and trekking

Your best bet is to phone companies and give full information as to what you are doing. Then when you take out a policy you will have the peace of mind that you are covered.

    Hi,

I am shortly going on a 10 day holiday to Slovakia to hike the High Tetras. I need travel insurance to cover me above 2000 metres. Any suggestions?

    Thanks
