Go to an Insurance broker in Ireland and they will sort you out with the appropriate Insurance. I have since noted that some companies including Insureandgo provide annual travel insurance for Irish citizens who have resided in Ireland for atleast 12 months.

Point noted re health Insurance, I was talking about normal state health services and not insurance, in my earlier post.

    Thanks Huckster,

I need to book a yearly travel insurance for my daughter. When I go online the policies on offer are either for a UK resident or an Irish resident. I know with health insurance the Irish Health Insurance Company will not cover students who study in the UK, because they live outside the Irish State for more than 6 months of the year. I was wondering does this apply to travel insurance also !

    Thanks

You will need to arrange cover through an Irish Insurer or broker, as you are only a temporary resident here while your are studying.

What cover are your looking for exactly? Is Travel Insurance the right type of cover? You may be better off taking out Student Personal Possessions Insurance to cover your possessions as Travel Insurance is limited. Do a google search and you will note many Insurers provide this.

In regard to health cover, you need to arrange for a European Health Insurance Card in Ireland, so you can access the NHS. I believe UK and Ireland have a receiprocal health service arrangement anyway, but the card may be helpful.

    Travel Insurance Clarification

If an Irish student is studying in the UK and living there during the school term (Approx 9 Months) . Does that student qualify as a UK Resident for Travel Insurance or as an Irish Resident ?
