Re: I'VE CANCELLED TISCALI BUT THEY JUST WON'T LEAVE ME ALONE

If they re-submitted an old DD mandate they must have done so knowing you had cancelled.

Don't dither, this may be fraud, a court can decide. TELL YOUR LOCAL TRADING STANDARDS OFFICE AND THE POLICE WITHOUT DELAY.

And I bet some of those emails did not state their full company name (Tiscali UK Ltd) , company number, registered business address and place of registration. They must put that information in ALL emails, failure to do so is a breach of the Companies Act 2006. Again, complain to Trading Standards.

That DD trick is very nasty and undermines the confidence in the whole direct debit system. Luckily the Direct Debit Indemnity Scheme has worked in your favour, and as it should do. That, at least, is very positive.

Hope your new ISP treats you better.

I would forward that copy of their own email to you back to their customer services, with a brief note stating you now consider this matter fully closed and if they try to contact you anymore, you will consider it harrasment and report the matter to the appropriate authorities.
They probably will have that conversation recorded as most call centres do, if you also know the time you made the call enclose it and tell them to search their records as well.
I would not waste any more time or lose sleep and just treat them with the contempt they deserve, you have done what you can to notify them already.
After all what can you now add by making a costly time consuming call that they don't already know, if for your own peace of mind you want to send a letter send it recorded for the small cost involved.

P.S. I assume you got your MAC code and switched to a new ISP ?

I'VE CANCELLED TISCALI BUT THEY JUST WON'T LEAVE ME ALONE

My problems began with Tiscali in a previous post entitled "PROBLEMS WITH TISCALI...........READ ON". That was only just the beginning of my nightmare!!!!

I finally got round to cancelling my Tiscali Broadband on 13th February 2007. I have full evidence that the phone call was made and hard copies of all the emails sent and received from them. My shut down date was set at 28/02/2007. It is now 20th March and Tiscali are saying that my account is still active, they are still charging me and that they have no note of any call being made to cancel. I even have an email from them saying my cancellation date has already been set!!!!

I have even cancelled the direct debit to them. To my absolute astonishment, this debit was set back up and money taken out of my account. The investigation from my bank stated that Tiscali had used the original signed direct debit mandate to reinstate the direct debit, thus taking "their" money out. Luckily, I have now had this money refunded by my bank.

After further emails to their Customer "Care" department, they have come back stating that I will have to phone them (on costa bomb 0870 number) to cancel my account. This I am refusing to do as I have already done this and have absolute damning evidence that the phone call has been made.

Can anyone help, as I feel I am constantly banging my head against a brick wall. It is absolutely unbelievable that a company is allowed to trade in this way.

PLEASE NOTE: THINKING OF USING TISCALI FOR YOUR BROADBAND? TAKE A LOOK AT THE MAJORITY OF THE POOR REVIEWS ON HERE AND ALL THE BAD POSTS ON THE FORUM................YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
