Re: Electric Night Storage Heater - how to operate?

If you have a large hot water tank (cylinder) you should have two immersion heaters in it, one at the bottom and another about 2/3 up. The one at the bottom is connected to the off-peak and should be switched on all the time BUT it will only get electricity when the off-peak automatically switches on (ie from midnight to 7am). You can check this if there is a red light on the switch as it will indicate when you have electricity (switch on/off after midnight).  The other heater is for topping up and can be switched on at any time (suspect this has the time switch) BUT the cost is three times the off-peak so I suggest you leave it off, the bottom heater will give you enought hot water for all day. Hope that's clear.........come back if it's not

that sounds really frustrating have you tried looking for a model number on your control pad then google it to see if you could contact the manufacturer for a manual, these problems tend to be solved very easily the difficulty is knowing how tee hee good luck.

Electric Night Storage Heater - how to operate?

I have recently moved into my ever 1st property but I was totally confused with the electric night storage heater that I have in my apartment. Unfortunately by the time I moved in all the instructions menus have disapperared and I have absolutley no idea how to function and operate in an effective low cost way.
I have an Economy 7 tariff with my electricity company therefore I would very much like to heat up hot water during the night time. However when I set up the timer with the storage heater it only allows me to boost the heater in the afternoon (i.e i set it up from 3pm -4pm) and then ask me to store the hot water from midnight to 7 am. After i set the timer on I still do not get enough hot water on the following day, could anyone here help me what's the best way to set this up in order for me to get enough hot water.
    thanks
