If you do a google search for 1&1 Internet terms, you will find forum comments from others where the same thing has happened. 1&1 apparently don't send any renewal reminder, they rely in the original t&c's, which are long winded. Have a read of the other forum as 1&1 would appear to be in breach of regulators requirements regarding renewal.

    Thanks Huckster

I don't have a copy, they tell me it is in their terms and their FAQs. I stopped using the email account but when I went on to check I had numerous emails saying I needed to update payment details as my card had expired. They do have my address and phone number and the only contact I received is a bill for the 185 pounds after they have already gone ahead and auto renewed.

Did you keep a copy of the original online agreement? Did this include automatic renewal? Did they send you any e-mails or letters reminding you of renewal. If neither the original documents or any renewal minder mentioned automatic renewal, tell them to get lost, as there is no contract between you apart from the previous 2 years. Advise them that you will report them to the OFT if they continue with this.

1&1 Internet - please help- advice needed

Just over 2 years ago I bought some domain names off this company on a 2 year contract - cost me about £126, didn't end up using them - never done anything with them and no longer use the email account from which I signed up.

Got a bill in the post a couple of days ago for £185 for the next two years, they have auto renewed the domains even though they no longer have a valid card and I have never used any of the domains.

Help - any suggestions, I don't want to pay them £185, have been emailing asking to cancel everything but they are threatening to pass to a debt collection agency and add another £15 onto bill.

I have been online through their website and now cancelled everything but as they auto renewed in June they are refusing to negotiate on this £185.

    Any advice greatly appreciated

    Thanks
