travel money card charges when loaded by credit card

    Hi

I'm looking at getting a travel money card for my holiday and was looking to see if it is possible to load the card with a credit card. If so will this be classed as a cash advance (and incur a higher interest rate) or purchase (therefore on the standard rate). I know travellers cheques are classed as cash advances but I've been unable to find out if travel money cards are as well?

    many thanks,

    Rob

I believe it would be treated as a cash advance, as you could withdraw the money as soon as you received the card. If the credit card companies did not do this, it would be a loophole that many would look to exploit. As these travel money cards are a relatively new product, why don't you phone your card company.
