    Exempt from car free development??????

    Hi,

I am just about to move in to a new home. I am a disbaled badge holder and need my car for mobility. I am moving within the same borough where I have had a parking permit. My new flat is on a car free development but I was wondering whether due to me being disabled I am exempt at all?

I am living in tower hamlets, I have had a permit in this borough but we have mini zones so mine doesnt cover that area. Even tho I have a blue badge there is still 3 hour time limits in any one day on all the bays. I work as well so moving every 3 hours will not be an option.

Plese do give me any help you can or point me to who I can contact. I have researched renting a private bay but due to the area being near canary wharf they are in excess of 150 per month which I simply cant afford.

    Thanks, Josh

There will be a management company who will collect the annual service charge. They may manage the parking arrangements but, if they don't, they will know who does. You really need to find out the answer before you make the final decision about the move. It would be best to get the answer in writing.

    Dear Josh

You have a blue badge and you know the system and you are moving now to a car free development and are asking a general forum for help. In theory if I compliment steam's piece with the following link you have all the information you need to sort this matter out.

    http://www.towerhamlets.gov.uk/lgsl/251-300/279_blue_badges.aspx

    NOT AS STRAIGHTFORWARD AS THAT?

Is there something you haven't mentioned that complicates the picture and where further suggestions could be made from here?

    Josh

Also take a look at the following link that looks at this issue.

    http://www.dda.org.uk/InformationStore.asp?Words=&SearchType=&ItemId=16

Appears that some of developments don't consider Disability discrimination act 2006. Would have thought they would have to, unless government have provided an opt-out for eco reasons.
