Once a year is reasonable if the calculation is right, more than once a year may not be reasonable. What increase do you calculate as reasonable?
Regarding dealing with these big companies, the best way of having accurate DDs is to know your annual consumption and switch, specifying your annual consumption. If you do that now, while you will have to pay-off the underpaid amount, you will get an accurate DD going forward. Well you will with Scottish Power.
