Getting Car insurance for new driver when I am getting a Debt Relief Order?

I am learning to drive and am desperate to have a car. I have recently begun a DEBT RELIEF ORDER as my amounting debt (under 3K) was getting too much to pay with a young family to feed. However, I am worried that having the DRO will stop me being able to get Car insurance when I pass my test. Hs anyone who has had the DRO or been bankrupt found car insurance? How much more than someone with good credit history would I have to pay? Hope you can help! Thanks

    Multiple

I don't think Car Insurers ask about bankruptcy in their declaration questions anymore. I know they did awhile back because there was a perception that those in money difficulties may be vulnerable to making fraudulent claims. I think they have since realised that fraud is not necessarily committed by those in debt.

The only possible problem you may encounter is not being able to pay monthly by Direct Debit. I know some Insurers do a credit reference check and will efuse monthly option if poor credit record found.
