    EON please help

    Hello All,

I am going spare with EON I now have a debt of 802.00, at the moment I am paying £56.00 per fortnightly and EON wants to increase it to £62.00 which I cannot afford to pay, this is the third times they increase my bill. I am on Employement Support Allowance due to ill health and I am only getting 114.46 every fortnightly which is £228.92 a month. At the moment I am paying £112.00 electricity per month to EON. I approach EON two years ago offering a payment method where I can clear the debt and still pay my electricity bills fortnightly they wouldn't budge they even refused an Income and Expenditure list showing my money coming in and outgoing, these people just do not care for vulnerable people. For the third three quarters they've keep increasing my fortnightly payment by £9.00 each times saying the increase will clear my electricity debt but every quarter they keep doing the same things, i told them last time when they increase it to £56.00 that i cannot increase my bills anymore but again toady i receive a letter they want to increase to £62.00. I need to get this problem sorted there must be a way I can approach EON to make them listen and accept my offer of paying towards this debt.

I am seeing the CAB on monday and have written to my MP so hopefully something get done.

in meantime any suggestion would be much appreciated. Is there anyone in my situation and have they got help. All I want is for EON to accept the payment suggestion i make to them because i do want to clear this debt.

Any reply would be much appreciated and many thanks in advance.

    Helen :(

    Re: EON please help

I guess I have already answered my own question about going to cab and the MP, but I just want to know if others had similar problems and if they have sorted it with EON.

    Re: EON please help

    Hi Helen,

Your fortnightly payment arrangement is based on your actual usage and a repayment amount for the arrears on the account.

The reason for the arrangement increasing may be due to a number of factors, the most likely is your consumption may have increased.

If you are struggling to pay the amount suggested by E.ON, there are a few things you can do.

Firstly check you are on the best tariff, a cheaper tariff will decrease the amount you need to pay.

Secondly ask E.ON how long the arrears have been spread over within the payment arrangement. It maybe the repayment period can be extended, this would also help.

The other alternative is to have a prepayment meter installed, with prepayment the debt can be paid back at the lowest possible amount. Some customers also find this a good payment method as you put money into the meter as you need energy.

    Hope this helps.

    Brian

    Re: EON please help

    Hi Brian,

Thank you for your reply it is much appreciated. EON will not discuss the arrears with me all they keep saying is I need to increase the amount by £9 each quarters but in the end the debt doesn't seems to get anywhere to clear. I have put across a proposition of how I can clear this debt with an instalment separate from the fortnightly electricity bill but they won't hear of it, the manager was very rude and told me they will not accept any income and expenditure list to show what money i live on, as mentioned i will seek help from the CAB as from Monday and do whatever I need to get EON to accept a payment method that suit me to clear this debt. There has never been any discussion from EON in what way I can clear this debt they only things they say is you need to increase your fortnightly repayment by £9 and that will cover the cost of your debt as well as paying your electricity but this method is not working at all whatsoever, they need to separate the debt away from the quarterly bill so that i can start paying an amount towards it, this is my aim. I will see what the cab tell me on MOnday, this has got to stop before i ended with over £1000.00 worth of debt.

I do not trust the pre-payment meters because i hear many horror stories from my neighbours they are barely feeding themselves or keeping the place warm., it seems to me EON want all it's cutomers on pre-payment meters so they can do whatever they wish.

I shall let you all know how I get on I intend to fight big time and hoping a good results and i sure will help others like myself. These company cannot make people lives so miserable like this.

    thanks

    helen.
