what ever company you take it does not mean they will be your insurer so ask when taking out insurance who you will actually be insured by and do some checks about them ...if your broker say gateway will be your insurance do yourself a massive favour refuse it as there the worst company on planet earth

    Hi Coyote,

Every insurance policy should be scrutinised to understand all fee charges etc. BISL/BGL are just a broker, in the event of a claim it is up to your insurer to look after you. BISL will offer you loads of extras if the claim is non fault (to be expected) but otherwise it is up to your insurer. I've been working at BGL @ 5 years and have had budget policies for both car and home for the past 5 years (my only benefit is 0 commission but on most new policies other customers can expect negative commission - better than me!!).

I would suggest for every insurance policy that you take out that you read the t&c's carefully.

Budget must be the only broker I know who state that if you have a claim its up to the Insurer to deal with you / sort the claim out.

One of the main reasons of dealing with a broker is that in the event of a claim they will help you out and ensure the claim goes smoothly.

It amuses me that Budget will offer you "loads of extras if the claim is non fault" this is possibly connected to the fact they earn large commissions for referring you to a no win no fee solicitor and / or a credit hire company.

So if the claim is your fault you get no assistance from Budget and are expected to get on with it with the Insurer yourself, if its your fault and they can earn some more money from you then they will help you.

That information has come from someone who "Represents" budget on this forum, their boss will be so pleased they have told potential customers this.

My advice to anyone using this is to avoid Budget and if you want to deal with a proper broker, go to a decent local broker who will be more than happy to help you when you have a claim irrespective of whether its your fault or not. Which after all is what a broker is there for in the first place...
