mobile phone contract in ltd company

    hi,

i signed a contract on behalf of a company that has now gone bust; 2 handsets - i am now told that as i am the key contact on the account i am liable for the outstanding balance and the rest of the contract.

can they do this as the contract was in the company name, not mine ?

If the company was a limited company as your title suggests then they cannot pursue you personally, they should instead address their unpaid bill to the receivers handling the companies bankruptcy.

If you were a sole trader, then they are entitled to pursue you personally for the balance.
