    Banner Batteries

Recently got my car battery changed and the garage put this battery in call a ''Superstart Maintance 3'' in my car. After a Trading standard ''worded'' letter was sent to them, they wrote back advising me the battery is called a Banner Battery part number 56205.

My reason for doubting the type of battery was when I checked to see the type of battery they sold me, I could not identify it as the battery was just plain black without any product markers, nothing to say amps etc. I became suspicious.

I have since found a Austrian company that seem to make this type of battery. Has anyone ever heard of or use this battery?

    Re: Banner Batteries

Hi - Never bought one but placed the words, "banner batteries" into Google and it returns a few sites that praise these Austrian batteries, they come with a running bull/buffalo symbol normally... perhaps they peeled yours off for some reason.?

The quote below is from one site, so these batteries must be relatively good or car manufacturers would not use them, the main thing is to check how long they guarantee their proiducts for...this should be at least Two years on a leading battery. I usually buy Varta batteries they carry a Five year guarantee.!

quote - Banner has been manufacturing batteries for over 60 years. The power packs with the buffalo symbol number among the world’s most respected, technologically advanced, brand products.

The independent, family-owned Banner company, supplies leading automotive manufacturers such as Audi, VW, DaimlerChrysler and MAN with original equipment batteries.

Manufacture at the Austrian production centre in Linz ensures constant, certificated top quality in accordance with ISO/TS 16949:2002 and ISO 9001:2000.

With battery return and 100% recycling, Banner makes a valuable contribution to environmental protection.

Banner products are equally reliable in the extreme cold of northern Scandinavia, or the heat of Africa and Asia.

    Re: Banner Batteries

Thanks for the info. What's bothering me is they may have put some re-cycled battery or low grade used banner in my car. Now I know ''Banner'' is a genuine company as i've also found their website, but as you suggested why is there no label to mark to identify the battery? that's my worry.

    Re: Banner Batteries

Firstly make sure the warranty you have been supplied corresponds with what Banner themselves advertise, main site below with all technical info on their products. By the way 56205 is an actual part number that Banner do use, I saw that on their pdf technical info. !

Then have a look to see if you can visually identify the same style battery that you've been supplied with from the photo's in their battery range below. I must admit the labels appear to be self adhesive and easily removed for whatever reason that could be, however the supplier will still have to honour the warranty with you.....incidentally how long is the guarantee they have supplied.?

    HI

The people at Banner Batteries at Rugeley really know their stuff. They helped with a lot of information for our AA Patrols. Why don't you give them a call on 01889 571100
