    Re: Washer-dryer machines

I had an Indesit a few years back, and it lasted about 15months, so I wouldnt touch them again.

Having said that the Zanussi I referred to below has just packed up, so we have only had just over 2 years from that, so even they seem to be not as good as they once were.

We have an Indesit WIDL126 which is running very well at the moment. I too wanted a Miele but they are way too expensive for me!

    ddrachelg,

Would you mind if I asked what make/model you've had?   I would like a Siemens or Miele, but they are outside my budget so I've been looking at Bosch (about £480) (still "A" rating on the wash cycles and "C"on dryer)

    Thanks

    Re: Washer-dryer machines

We had a washer dryer for three years and it didn't give us any trouble. In fact, it was our own fault that it packed up because we didn't clean out the filters and it got bunged up. We ordered a replacement a few months ago after doing our research on Which and we're very pleased with it. If space is at a premium, then a washer dryer does make sense. Remember to consider the energy efficiency ratings and also the maximum washing load versus the maximum drying load (sometimes you can only dry half of what you washed in order to be efficient). Also, watch out for the water consumption - it can vary dramatically.

We have one, no problems with it to date (is just over 2 years old).

Not sure why we bothered with the dryer part though - have only used it a handful of times.

    Re: Washer-dryer machines

I've never had one but everyone that I know who has reports similarly - that they are rubbish.

    Sorry!

Washer-dryers are useless lumps of expensive ...

Had one and found that it did neither job very well. Sent it back and got one of each which meant that I could was one load whilst drying another or simply dry wet stuff when needed.

Save your dosh and buy decent onse of each ...

    Washer-dryer machines

Currently, we have separate "compact" washing-machine and tumble dryer which have given sterling service for 15 years but now need to be replaced. Compact kitchen appliances still carry a hefty premium and so I am considering a combined washer-dryer as a single replacement for both machines in our small kitchen. Does anyone have any experience of these machines? Are they as reliable as washer-only machines? (I have been looking at Bosch/Siemens and Hotpoint machines. Typically, we do around 4-5 loads of washing a week, only 2 of which are tumble dried).
    Many thanks
