Vodaphone -Customer service not responding- small claims court only alternative

I have an ongoing problem with vodaphone mobile broadband.

I originally bought a dongle with a 30 day rolling contract.

I cancelled original package by letter (30 days notice).

They rang me and offered much better deal (nothing for six months - then £15 per month for six months - I asked and yes!still 30 day rolling contract) - I accepted.

I soon got a bill for £140 for early cancelllation of my 12 month contract! (what contract?). - and dongle not working?

I never had any confirmation of new telephone deal in post. (did the sales person lie to me re: 12 month?)

Customer service say they have charged for early cancellation? I never cancelled new service; and have stopped responding to my emails.

Kirsty from vodaphone who responded to this website issue said she would deal with it; and quickly sent back almost the exact same letter with no explanation of how this had happened..

I have replied to her (27th april) but despite repeated mails to her and others have been left out in the cold with no one prepared to contact me to sort this out.

(It would appear that they have given me a new 12 month contract without my permission- or written details- and have then used my original letter of cancellation in error to cancel this new account that didnt want in the first place!)

Vodaphone customer service does appear to be a joke - you have no relationship with anyone who is capable of gloing beyond the standard script.

I intend to pursue this this matter further through the small claims court.

and am writing a recorded delivery letter to the chief executive at Newbury

I have had huge problems with Vodafone. I was unfortunately brought over from Dot Mobile when it went into administration. I'll cut a long story short- over about 3 months of dealings with them I found the only way to get anything done was to keep asking the customer service for their manager. Start out with the normal call centre employees if they cannot help you, ask for who controls their department, their building etc. If you keep persisting they have no choice but to put you through to someone who has some power. Unfortunately, the managers seem much more snappy and rude- really get on your nerves, but keep a level head and you can get somewhere. If you bring up the fact that you will be taking legal action as they have fraudulently entered you into a contract and charged you said fees, they will eventually put you through to a department that can help you. Once you get through to someone who has some power things get nice and easy, I even ended up getting compensation for my troubles.

    #Thanks for the advice

It has been a frustrating process but eventually had to go down the ' seven days or small claims' route addressed to vitorio caleo chief executive at newbury.

After over 55 emails and phone calls this had an effect in just two days.

A very polite lady told me that she had sorted it and it was just the simple problem that I had described but they had not listened to!

all was sorted with immediate effect and some compensation.

Thankyou all for your helpful posts

So my advice would now always be -- Aim for the top!
